review: colourpop creme gel colour

Happy Saturdays, loves! Today is the last day of our brand feature of colourpop! For our last review we take a look at the creme gel colour. The gel liners come in 27 shades varying from classic browns and black to bright yellows and greens.

The creme gel colour can be purchased on colourpop.com for $6.00

One of my favorite parts of this collection is the huge range of colors. Especially in summer, bold liners are a huge trend. My favorite color of the ones I purchased is definitely ‘get paid’. It is a metallic copper liner and is a statement without being too far out of everyday comfort. The liners are creamy and don’t tug on the eyelids. They last all day even without having eye primers or shadow underneath.

Some people are not comfortable with a gel liner but once you get used to it there is no turning back. I find that they are the longest wearing and most matte liners compared to liquid or pencil. They are especially good if you find that your eyeliner transfers or smudges. If you have a hard time with liner staying on your eyes, I suggest going with a gel liner and setting it with a matching eyeshadow.

If you are a fan of gel liners or want to give them a try I would suggest trying out the colourpop creme gel colour. You can’t beat the quality of the product even at the drugstore. The maybelline gel liner is great as well but more expensive and a much more limited color selection. It also dries out a lot faster than the colourpop liners.

I am considering doing a gel liner comparison and reviewing a bunch of different brands and giving you the best and worst of drugstore and high end! Let me know if that is something you would like to see!

review: colourpop brow color & liner

Happy Friday, loves! As we begin to wrap up our review of colourpop, we take a look at one of the newest releases. Colourpop recently came out with a brow line including a brow pencil and brow color. I usually use Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products which can often be out of the price range of many beauty lovers. When using the Anastasia brow pomade, brow wiz, and brow gel, the cost of doing a brow ends up being around $61 which to be honest is ridiculous. I decided to grab these products to try and find a good alternative for Anastasia products!

the brow liner can be found on colourpop.com for $5.00

the brow color can be found on colourpop.com for $6.00

colourpop brow swatch

I purchased both products in the shade dope taupe because I am the shade taupe in the ABH products. Colourpop’s dope taupe is much warmer than ABH taupe and I have heard that this is the case with most of colourpops brow products. They tend to lean on the warmer side of the spectrum.

I love the pencil and I think it could be in the running to compete with the NYX micro brow pencil which I also love from the drugstore. The pencil has an ultra slim tip and is great to create realistic hairs. My little trick is that since it is not a sharpening pencil, if you twist it up there will be a sharper edge from the packaging and that will be perfect for creating thin precise lines.

I enjoy the brow color as well. The product is super creamy which makes it easy to pick up too much product and apply it too heavily. I dip my brush in the product and then tap it inside the lid to remove any excess product. The color warms up a little bit once it is on the skin and doesn’t have the ashy tone I tend to prefer for my brows since I have blonde hair. The ABH brow pomade is .14 oz for $18 while the colourpop brow color is .11 oz for $6.00. A brow pomade product lasts basically forever because you need so little to complete both brows. As long as you are careful with the application, this is an excellent product but since it is very creamy oil skin may need to set it with a powder so that it doesn’t slide all over the face!

My routine with these too is to fill in the lower 3/4 of my brow with the brow color and then use the pencil to fill in any spare areas and create small light strokes in the front of the brow so that it has a lighter, less harsh effect. I recommend using a thin pencil on the inside of the brows because a pomade can be too harsh and create a really boxy drawn on brow which is personally not my favorite look.

I think both products are great alternatives for ABH products. I will still stick with my ABH pomade just because the tone matches my skin and hair better but I will continue to use the colourpop brow pencil! These are definitely an awesome find for those brows ballin’ on a budget.

I am thinking about reviewing more brow products from the drugstore such as milani, l’oreal, and NYX. I could do a brow showdown and compare everything to the brow queen ABH products. Let me know if you guys would like to see that!

review: colourpop lip liner

Happy Thursday, loves! Today we look at the colourpop lip liners as our feature of colourpop continues. The lip liners come in 24 matte shades ranging from nudes to blues and greens.

the lip liners can be purchased at colourpop.com for $5.00

I purchased for of the colors in various shades in order to see if the formula varied from shade to shade. Aquarius is by far my favorite. It is the perfect nude for fair to medium skin tones and would be a beautiful light shade on someone with deeper skin.

The liners are incredibly creamy and glide on the lips without pulling. The darker colors would not be the best to fill in the entire lips without anything on top because it doesn’t apply perfectly even as you can see in the swatches. It still applies evenly as a lip liner but gets patchy over larger areas.

The liner doesn’t bleed into the lines around you mouth and ensures that your lipsticks stay in place. I have used them with many lipsticks from brands other than colourpop and they look beautiful regardless.

The thing I cannot emphasize enough with these is how incredibly creamy they are and how nice it is when applying on the lips. I would highly recommend these lip liners especially since most of the ones that compare have a much higher price tag than $5.oo

review: colourpop lippie stix

Happy wednesday, loves! Today we continue our look at colourpop products and put their lippie stix to the test! The lippie stix come in 73 shades and 8 finishes. The lippie stix are very similar to other companies products that are lip crayons. The stix is steeply slanted which I find helps make application really easy. I love the sleek white packaging and that the bottom is the color of the lipstick so it is easy to find the shade you are looking for.

the lippie stix can be purchased on colourpop.com for $5.00

I have absolutely fallen in love with the lippie stix. I think that they are the best lip product that colourpop puts out. Cookie is now my go to shade and one of my favorite lip products of all time.

The lippie stix are incredibly creamy and glide on the lips beautifully even in the matte formula. All of the colors are long lasting and stay on the lips for hours even though they are not specifically a long wearing formula. The best part is they don’t dry out your lips in the slightest which most long wearing lips do. Even the brightest colors don’t budge and once they finally start to wear off after long day, it wears off evenly and leave a nice stain behind.

I recommend the lippie stix more than any other lip product I have mentioned in the past. Especially the shade cookie, it is the perfect nude for many skin tones! With 73 shades, you are bound to find one that you will love.

review: colourpop ultra matte lip

Happy Tuesday loves! We are gonna continue with our feature on colourpop with their ultra matte lips. This product is colourpop’s version of a liquid lipstick. The ultra matte lip comes in a wide range of colors. The entire collection includes 47 shades varying from the classic nude to  vibrant blue. I purchased 11 of the shades to put to the test.

the ultra matte is also exclusively available on colourpop.com and can be purchased for $6.00

I first put the ultra mattes to the test for a long day at work. I wore lumiere 2 and was complimented all day about what a beautiful shade it was. The formula was exactly what
I was looking for in a liquid lipstick. The lipstick comes out somewhat oily and glides on perfectly. It takes only a short few minutes to dry and becomes completely matte.

When I wore lumiere 2 to work, it lasted 10 hours through eating and drinking without a single smudge or even the tiniest patch wearing off. Around 8 hours it started feeling and looking a little dry which is to be expected with a matte lip color. I was really pleased with how long it lasted before drying. The dryness could easily be fixed by putting a lip balm under before you apply and after application if it starts feeling dry you can always put another lip balm layer over it.

I think the color range is excellent and the formula is one of the best liquid lipstick formulas on the market especially for such a bargain. I would definitely recommend giving these a shot!

There is a dirty little rumor that the colourpop ultra matte lips are the exact same product as the Kylie Lip Kits. People are claiming that colourpop actually manufactures her line so the liners and liquid lipsticks are the exact same just a different packaging and a larger price. I was thinking of grabbing some of the Kylie Lip Kits to see if they are the same and if I could save you all some money over just a name! Let me know if you would like a review of the Kylie Lip Kits and a comparison against the colourpop ultra matte lips and lip pencils!

review: colourpop ultra satin lip

This week I am doing an entire feature on the colourpop line. Colourpop has been blowing up in the beauty blogger world. It is a relatively new brand so many of the bloggers that have spoken of colourpop have received them as free product. I decided to take a look at colourpop and see if it is worth all the talk. Today we start with the ultra satin lip.

The entire colourpop line can be purchased on their website colourpop.com for drugstore prices.

The ultra satin lips are $6.00 a piece.

The ultra satin lips are a liquid lipstick with a non-matte finish. Instead of being completely matte the satin lip has a similar finish to a traditional lipstick. I have four colors in the satin lip but the range carries 23 different colors.

Unlike a matte liquid lipstick, the ultra satin lips don’t dry completely. They still have a little bit of slip but not to the point where if you rub your lips together it will smear. These don’t dry out your lips in the slightest like some matte lipsticks can do so they would be perfect for someone who doesn’t want to draw attention to dryness or fine lines.

I wore the rabbit for a long day of work and it stayed a little bit wet the entire day. I was able to eat and drink without ruining my lips and it lasted throughout an 8 hour shift while still staying vibrant. By the end of the day my lip had smeared a little around the edges but I tested them without a lipliner and it took hours for it to get to that point.

I highly recommend these lips. The range of colors is fantastic and the wear is better than anything Ive found especially for the price!

review: melt dark matter eyeshadow stack

This week we are gonna take a look at the cult favorite melt cosmetics dark matter eyeshadow stack. The beauty world has been obsessing over melt’s eyeshadows for years and they almost never seem to be in stock. I saw on instagram that they were back in stock after quite some time and decided I needed to pick it up to see what all the hype was about.

The stack can be purchased on meltcosmetics.com for $48.oo

The eyeshadows are called a stack because the packing is magnetic and can be stacked on top of one another or spread out like in the original picture. The shadow pans are about twice the size of a mac shadow pan. I really enjoy the packaging. It keeps the shadow compact and perfect for traveling.

The dark matter stack is the neutral stack that melt sells. They have two other stacks with much brighter colors. Soon all the colors will be available individually for $17.00 a piece. The stack still comes out to be a better deal because the four individually would cost $68.00

I think these are incredible eyeshadows. They are creamy and the colors are perfect to create a multitude of looks. The shadows are pigmented but don’t come off too pigmented on the first application. This is why they look somewhat choppy in the swatches because they blend out to perfection and if you want a really pigmented look, you can layer.

I love the shade blurr to bend out everything in the crease. The shade enigma is the whole reason I bought the stack. It is such a unique red burgundy shade and every time I wear it I get compliments on how unique the shade is.

Heres a look at one of the eye looks I created with the stack:

I highly recommend this stack to anyone at any level of makeup. The colors are beautiful and fool proof to blend. I would grab this stack and any of the others at any chance you get.
