review: colourpop brow color & liner

Happy Friday, loves! As we begin to wrap up our review of colourpop, we take a look at one of the newest releases. Colourpop recently came out with a brow line including a brow pencil and brow color. I usually use Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products which can often be out of the price range of many beauty lovers. When using the Anastasia brow pomade, brow wiz, and brow gel, the cost of doing a brow ends up being around $61 which to be honest is ridiculous. I decided to grab these products to try and find a good alternative for Anastasia products!

the brow liner can be found on colourpop.com for $5.00

the brow color can be found on colourpop.com for $6.00

I purchased both products in the shade dope taupe because I am the shade taupe in the ABH products. Colourpop’s dope taupe is much warmer than ABH taupe and I have heard that this is the case with most of colourpops brow products. They tend to lean on the warmer side of the spectrum.

I love the pencil and I think it could be in the running to compete with the NYX micro brow pencil which I also love from the drugstore. The pencil has an ultra slim tip and is great to create realistic hairs. My little trick is that since it is not a sharpening pencil, if you twist it up there will be a sharper edge from the packaging and that will be perfect for creating thin precise lines.

I enjoy the brow color as well. The product is super creamy which makes it easy to pick up too much product and apply it too heavily. I dip my brush in the product and then tap it inside the lid to remove any excess product. The color warms up a little bit once it is on the skin and doesn’t have the ashy tone I tend to prefer for my brows since I have blonde hair. The ABH brow pomade is .14 oz for $18 while the colourpop brow color is .11 oz for $6.00. A brow pomade product lasts basically forever because you need so little to complete both brows. As long as you are careful with the application, this is an excellent product but since it is very creamy oil skin may need to set it with a powder so that it doesn’t slide all over the face!

My routine with these too is to fill in the lower 3/4 of my brow with the brow color and then use the pencil to fill in any spare areas and create small light strokes in the front of the brow so that it has a lighter, less harsh effect. I recommend using a thin pencil on the inside of the brows because a pomade can be too harsh and create a really boxy drawn on brow which is personally not my favorite look.

I think both products are great alternatives for ABH products. I will still stick with my ABH pomade just because the tone matches my skin and hair better but I will continue to use the colourpop brow pencil! These are definitely an awesome find for those brows ballin’ on a budget.

I am thinking about reviewing more brow products from the drugstore such as milani, l’oreal, and NYX. I could do a brow showdown and compare everything to the brow queen ABH products. Let me know if you guys would like to see that!

As always please recommend any other products you would like to see me test out! Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog on the right hand side of the page, so you receive updates when I post. Thanks for all the love & support. Talk to you tomorrow with our last  colourpop review of the week, loves.

  1. Love this review and love Colourpop! I actually did a review on some of their lipsticks myself. I have the same brow color pencil from them and I enjoy using it. Thanks for the tips!
