halloween tutorial: storm

For this look, I was inspired by my favorite quote “She’s not a girl, she’s a storm with skin.” This may be my favorite look. Im super proud of how this one turned out!

products used:

nivea mens shave balm

lorac performance foundation – SMS 1

make up for ever flash palette

anastasia beverly hills shadow – star cobalt

morphe eyeshadow palette – 35N

mac eyeshadow – nylon

ofra liquid lipstick – times square

chantecaille eyeliner – violet damask

mac gigiblack mascara – black

ardell lashes – 251

duo brush on lash glue

step 1: prime –  I applied nivea mens shave balm to smooth my skin and prolong my foundation wear

step 2: foundation – I used the lorac foundation to create an even base

step 3: stormy sky – I used a foundation spatula to remove portions of the blue, black, and white. I mixed the blue and black to create a really deep blue color for left side of my face. I added a little black on top of that with a disposable sponge in the top corner to create a dark purple looking cloud. As I moved across my face I used progressively more white until the right side of my face looked like grey clouds. In the purple cloud area I used the deep purples in the morphe 35N to set the cream and add extra dimension. I set the majority of the blue area with ABH star cobalt for a deep iridescent blue look. I used the grey shade and mac nylon to set the lightest area on the right of my face. I added violet damask liner in my water liner so that the whites of my eyes didn’t clash with the deep blue.

storm z palette.jpg

step 4: lightning – I used the white color in the MUF flash palette and a very thin paint brush to draw random jagged lines. I also added various pops of the gold and silver throughout the lightning lines. I found that this whole look was way easier with a detailing paint brush set to get really precise lines.

step 5: mascara – mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes.

step 6: false lashes – I used ardell 251 lashes  for this look. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 7: lipstick – I decided to do a silver lip so that it would pair nicely with the tones of the lightning. I used the ofra liquid lipstick because its the only silver I own.

halloween tutorial: phantom

This look was inspired by my recreation of Jaclyn Hill’s glam zombie tutorial last year. I wanted to do something disgusting and gory but also different than last year. I decided it would be fun to do a whole half of my face in gore kind of in a similar shape to phantom of the opera.

products used:

nivea mens shave balm

lorac performance foundation – SMS 1

cover fx custom cover drops – moonlight

maybelline age rewind concealer – neutralizer

anastasia beverly hills contour powder – banana

mac pro shaping powder – emphasize

dolce & gabbana the blush – tan

mac powder blush – margin

anastasia beverly hills dipbrow pomade – taupe

anastasia beverly hills clear brow gel

smashbox photo finish primer

jeffree star beauty killer palette

anastasia beverly hills shadow – sienna, fudge

makeup geek shadow – americano, grandstand

mac loose pigment – tan

mac gigiblack mascara – black

bobbi brown gel definer liner – black

lena lashes – bianca

duo brush on lash glue

becca champagne pop

graftobian liquid latex

makeup forever flash palette

morphe shadow palette – 35N

cinema secrets blood gel

step 1: prime –  I applied nivea mens shave balm to smooth my skin and prolong my foundation wear

step 2: foundation – I mixed the lorac foundation with the cover fx moonlight drops to create a luminous skin look. This is when i create the line where I was going to go from normal to bloody. I used a paddle foundation brush to draw a distinct line where I stopped putting on makeup.

step 3: conceal – I used maybelline age rewind concealer to cover my dark circles and highlight my chin, cupids bow, bridge of nose, and center of forehead.

step 4: powder – I set my concealer with ABH banana powder and mac pro emphasize powder.

z-palette-face

step 5: contour – I used d&g tan blush to create a grey toned contour on the hollows of my cheek. I only applied my cheek makeup on the left side of my face because of the fx makeup on the right side.

step 6: blush – I blended mac margin up my cheek for a bronzy glow.

step 7: highlight – I highlighted the tops of my cheekbone with becca X jaclyn hill champagne pop

step 8: shadow – I primed my eyes with the smashbox primer then used jeffree star china white to create an even base. I then blended JS courtney into my entire crease and slightly on my lid. I then applied ABH sienna on top to create a warmer crease. I took ABH fudge in the outer corner of my lid and the lower crease area. I used a small flat brush to apply MUG americano to the outer third of my lid for dimension. I still wanted my outer corner to be a little deeper so I put a little JS black diamond in a little section on the outermost edge of my shadow. I used MUG grandstand all over the inner 2/3 of my lid. I wanted more shimmer so I wet my brush with mac fix plus and packed mac tan pigment on top of grandstand for a metallic look. I smudged americano and black diamond under my lash line.

phantom-js-beauty-killer

phantom-z-palette

step 9: liner –  I didn’t put any liner on my lids but I used bobbi brown liner in my waterline for definition.

step 10: mascara – mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes

step 11: brows – I fill in my brows with ABH dip brow in taupe and set it with ABH clear brow gel.

step 12: false lashes – I used lena lashes in bianca for this look. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 13: liquid latex – To create a kind of scar like, open tissue texture, I paint liquid latex on the area and then stick pieces of pulled apart cotton on top. I then apply another later of liquid latex and use my fingers to pull the latex apart and move it in varying directions to create texture. If you use varying pieces of thin cotton you will already get a lot of texture.

step 14: coloring – For the beginning of the bloody look you need to lay down a base of color. I start by putting foundation over the liquid latex area so that it blend with the rest of my makeup and no white shows through. I then take a sponge and use MUF flash palette to create a red area. I mixed the red, brown and black creams to begin to darken the ‘scars’. (The only reason I have the flash palette is because of this series. It is super expensive and unless you do fx makeup is not worth it. I would just use lipsticks. Thats what I did for my look last year and it worked perfectly.) I then used a mixture of cool browns, burgundys, and reds from the morphe 35n palette to create a bruising effect. Once I got the look dark enough, I used a beauty sponge to pat on blood gel over the whole latex area until I looked just disgusting enough!

halloween tutorial: witch

Hello loves! For this look I wanted to do a more unique witch. I wasn’t thinking the green woman with warts on her nose, I was more thinking of what a woman who was dark and twisted and evil may look like. Here’s what I came up with and how to achieve it!

products used:

nivea mens post shave balm

cover fx custom cover drops – N10

josie maran argan oil

kat von d lock it concealer – L3

laura mercier loose setting powder – translucent

morphe eyeshadow palette – 35N

mac gigiblack mascara

ardell lashes – 203

duo brush on lash glue

anastasia beverly hills waterproof creme color – jet

maybelline vivid matte liquid – possessed plum

step 1: prime – I applied nivea shave balm to ensure smooth foundation and long lasting base.

step 2: foundation – I wanted really pale skin so I used one of my lighter foundations. I mixed cover fx cover drops in n10 with josie maran argan oil.

step 3: concealer – I concealed my under eyes, eyelids, chin, cupids bow, bridge of nose, and forehead.

step 4: powder – I set my concealer with laura mercier translucent powder.

step 5: eyeshadow – I blended the grey shade from the morphe 35n in the crease of my eye and underneath my lash line. I then used the two more purple tones from the palette all over my eyes and really low beneath them. I then used the two black shades all over the lid and directly underneath the lash line to create a really deep sunken look.

step 6: contours – I used the all the same shades from the morphe 35n besides the blacks for a bruised look around my forehead, cheeks and mouth.

step 7: brows – I filled in my brows using abh jet.

step 8: mascara – mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes.

step 9: false lashes – I used ardell 203 lashes. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 10: lips – I used possessed plum for a dark lip look.

halloween tutorial: cheshire cat

Today’s look was inspired by the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Various cat looks are some of the most popular looks for Halloween and I decided to take a little more animated take on the traditional cat look.

products used:

nivea mens shave balm

milani conceal and perfect foundation – 02 natural

maybelline age rewind concealer – neutralizer

coty airspun loose powder – translucent

makeup geek eyeshadow – americano, corrupt

jeffree star beauty killer palette

nyc liquid eyeliner

wet n wild color icon blush – apri-cot in the middle

bobbi brown gel definer liner – black

mac gigiblack mascara

ardell lashes – 202

duo brush on lash glue

make up for ever flash palette

step 1: prime –  I applied nivea mens shave balm to smooth my skin and prolong my foundation wear

step 2: foundation – I used milani conceal and perfect to have a full coverage base.

step 3: concealer – I used maybelline age rewind concealer to cover my dark circles and highlight my chin, cupids bow, bridge of nose, and center of forehead.

step 4: powder – I packed coty airspun under my eyes to set my concealer and dusted the powder over the rest of my face so that it didn’t budge.

step 5: blush – I added wet n wild blush on the apples of my cheeks sweeping up towards the temples to create some dimension on my face.

step 6: eyeshadow – I used JS star power to create an outline of a winged out crease. I drew a line from my inner corner, slightly above my natural crease, and curved it towards the tail of my brow with a thin brush. I used the same brush to bring the end of that wing down below my lower lash liner and curved it downward before it touched my tear duct. I filled in the entire outlined area with star power but I wanted a little dimension so I added confession in the upper crease.

chesire JS beauty killer.jpg

step 7: liner – I used my favorite NYC liquid liner to create a huge drawn out wing that followed the one I created with the shadow. This liner has a super thin brush so I was able to bring it in and create the downward facing inner corner of a cats eye. I used my bobbi brown liner to fill in my waterline.

step 8: mascara – mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes.

step 9: false lashes – I used ardell 202 lashes for this look because they have the winged out effect I wanted to amplify. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 10: brows – I used the black shade from MUF flash palette to fill in my brows and I really feathered the lines above my natural eyebrow for a furry sort of effect. You could use any sort of gel liner or shadow for a black eyebrow.

step 11: mouth – To begin the mouth , I used the black from the MUF flash palette to make a sharp cupids bow and a curved smile line. I finished the outline by connecting the two ends of the smile. I filled in the entire mouth area with the black and then did a second outline slightly inside the black with the white from the palette. I then just drew in a series of triangles t0 create the teeth.

muf-flash

step 12: nose – I put a little bit of the black from the MUF palette on my nose and when I blended it in it turned slightly grey but I liked it so I left it that shade. I drew tiny lines with the black for the whiskers.

step 13: fur – I used a makeup sponge to blend JS star power on the edges of my face to create ‘fur-like’ appearance.

halloween tutorial: fortune teller

This may just be my favorite look so far. I am absolutely obsessed with the way it came out and it is super easy!!

products used:

make up for ever step 1 primer – smoothing

mac strobe cream

doll ten hydra foundation – light

mac pro longwear concealer – NW20

nars paloma blush duo

make up for ever flash palette

morphe eyeshadow palette – 35N, 35O

mac gigiblack mascara – black

anastasia beverly hills waterproof creme color – jet

ardell lashes – 251

duo brush on lash glue

ofra long last liquid lipstick – fifth ave

nyx liquid suede lipstick – stone fox

anastasia beverly hills liquid lipstick – craft

kylie cosmetics metal liquid lipstick – heir

michaels rhinestones

step 1: prime – I primed with MUF smoothing primer to ensure my foundation went on smooth and lasted all day. I then applied mac strobe cream all over my face to give myself a glow.

step 2: foundation – I used the doll 10 foundation for a full coverage hydrated base.

step 3: concealer – I wanted a really full coverage concealer so I used mac pro longwear and applied that all over my under eye and lid areas. Mac pro longwear acts as a really good eyeshadow primer and it covers any veins.

step 4: powder – I set my concealer with the light yellowish shade from the nars paloma duo

step 5: shading – I wanted to look slightly bruised and battered so I used the red, brown, and black from the MUF flash palette with a beauty sponge and tapped it around my face especially around my eyes which I wanted to look like they were healing from a black eye almost. I set those areas with the deep shades in the morphe 35N.

muf-flash

phantom-morphe-palette

step 6: shadow – I started by blending shades 1 and 2 all over the entire crease area. I then took 3 and 4 a little lower in the crease and curved it around to the lower lash. I deepened the outer v using shade 6. I packed shade 7 all over the lid and then 5 on the inner 1/2 of the lid. I smudged the shades from the 35n to really make the lower lash purple and bruised looking.

fortune-teller-morphe-350

step 7: liner – I didn’t apply liner to the lash line but with the deepness of the bruising around the eyes I didn’t like my waterline being bare so I applied abh jet in my upper and lower waterline.

step 8: mascara –  mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes.

step 9: false lashes – I used ardell 251 lashes. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 10: rhinestones – For the black rhinestones on my forehead, I used cut up some scrapbooking stickers to create a design. If you go to michaels there are tons of sticker sets that would look great with this look. If you plan on wearing it all night I would apply some liquid latex or lash glue or elmers glue onto the forehead before you lay down the stickers so they don’t budge. I knew I wanted gold tears so I used brush and ofra fifth ave lipstick to create the tears and gold lines on my face. The gold rhinestones were also from michaels and I used a little lash glue on the back before placing them on the gold lines with tweezers.

step 11: lips – I wanted deep purple matte lips into a coppery ombre. I started by mixing abh craft and nyx stone fox on my mixing palette and applying it all over the lips with a lip brush. I then patted kylie’s metal heir lipstick in the center to add some metallic to the ombre I was trying to achieve.

halloween tutorial: bride of frankenstein

I decided to do a fun spin on the traditional bride of frankenstein look and make it super glam. This is the perfect look for anyone wanting to do something for halloween that is still sultry!

products used:

nivea mens post shave balm

josie maran vibrancy foundation – dynamic

coty airspun loose powder – translucent

make up for ever flash palette

morphe eyeshadow palette – 35N

smashbox photo finish eye primer

urban decay eyeshadow – faint

melt dark matter shadow stack

makeup geek eyeshadow – mirage

anastasia beverly hills waterproof creme color – jet

mac gigiblack mascara – black

cinema secrets blood gel

nyx retractable lip liner – dark red

mac lipstick – diva

colourpop ultra matte lip – LAX

ardell lashes – 203

duo brush on lash glue

step 1: prime –  I applied nivea mens shave balm to smooth my skin and prolong my foundation wear.

step 2: foundation – I used josie maran vibrancy foundation for a really pale foundation base.

step 3: powder – I set the whole face with coty airspun powder because the MUF flash creams will take off your foundation if you don’t set it first.

step 4: coloring – I mixed the green and white shade from the MUF flash palette to create a really light green. I used a beauty sponge to pack this color all over my face. I then took a really dark brown almost black shadow to draw the stitches down my face so that I had a guideline for when I came back to it later. I also used the deep colors from the morphe 35N to create some light bruising around my forehead and the stitches with a beauty sponge.

muf-flash

phantom-morphe-palette

step 5: prime – I primed my eyes with smashbox photofinish primer.

step 6: shadow – I wanted a really dramatic black cut crease eye. I used a flat liner brush to draw where I was going to cut the crease. I then used a small smudge brush to blend melt dark matter shadow upward. I then used a clean fluffy brush to go over the whole crease and make sure it was blended. I then used makeup geek mirage on only my lid to ensure that no black was falling onto the lid.

step 7: brows – I wanted really dark brown eyebrows, so I used faint from UD naked basics palette to fill in my brows.

step 8: liner – I wanted a really dramatic winged eye look so I used abh jet to line my eyes and create a wing. When I use this product for a winged liner a put a drop of baby oil in it to make it really creamy.

step 9: mascara – mac gigiblack mascara is my go to for darkening my lashes before falsies because it still looks natural enough to blend with lashes.

step 10: false lashes -I used ardell 203 lashes. I like the duo brush on lash glue because it is so easy to apply it evenly on the lash band without a mess. I let it dry for  about 30 seconds before actually putting them on my eyes so that they are tacky enough. I press them against my real lashes with tweezers so that you can’t see a distinction line.

step 11: stitches – I used the black from the morhpe 35N to go back and draw the stitch lines again and then I used a small  angles brush to put blood gel on top of each little ‘stitch’

step 12: lips – I lined my lips with nyx dark red and filled it in with mac diva lipstick but that wasn’t quite dark enough for me so I applied colourpop LAX to make it more deep and brown toned.
