Pat McGrath is one of the most famous makeup artists our generation has been blessed with. Since she carries a very limited line, when a new product is released, it is a colossal event. Her latest launch is a highlighting set in two shades. The set includes a dual ended stick. One side has a clear balm and the other is a highlighting cream. There is a powder highlight as well as buffing brush. skin fetish package

The set is currently a sephora “limited edition” exclusive for $72.oo. I have a suspicion that once the sephora run is over that the Pat McGrath Labs website will eventually carry the sets as well. The price is steep but you are basically getting four products in the set which averages out to $18 a product.

The set comes in the shades nude and golden. The nude cream highlight is a subtle pink undertoned champagne. The powder give a pinkish purple reflection when the light hits it.  The golden cream highlight is a true gold. The powder reflects slightly yellow gold in the light.

I really enjoy the set. The cream is perfect to use on its own for a more subtle look and if you wanted really natural you could use just the balm. The powder comes out subtle for the first layer and then can be built up to be more dramatic. I personally like to layer the balm, cream, and powder to have a really strong highlight. The creams are easy to blend but I’m not a fan of using the brush for that purpose (which is what it is intended for). I still really enjoy the brushes but they are natural hair so they pick up a lot of product and I found it would take off some of my foundation. I will use the brushes for another purpose because they are incredibly soft.

Ive used both but the nude powder turns way too pink on me. It looks like a dark pink stripe on my cheek. I think the nude would be a beautiful shade on women of color. It would also work on lighter skin tones but my preference leans toward the golden. I also found that the powders look beautiful together. I am probably most likely to wear the two mixed together. Someone who wants a really natural highlight even for those days with little to no makeup would enjoy the balm because it just gives enough of a shine to enhance the cheekbones. I will use the highlighting creams during summer for a fresh dewy look.

My final thought is that the set is absolutely worth all the hype. I think any person could find a good use for this highlighting set. Pat McGrath absolutely killed it! (I would expect nothing less)

As always please recommend any other products you would like to see me test out! Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog on the right hand side of the page, so you receive updates when I post. Thanks for all the love & support. Talk to you next monday, loves.
