Welcome back loves! Today we are taking a look at Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics newest launch. To be honest when Jaclyn released her holiday collection, I was not entirely convinced I needed it especially with how many highlighters are on the market. I’ve got to give the girl credit though because those instagram stories really got me and when she restocked I was ready and waiting on that website to snatch the collection myself.
Jaclyn released three products as well as three brushes. I chose to get one of each of the highlighting products so lets go through those one by one.
mood light luminous powder $32 – jaclyncosmetics.com
The mood light luminous powder claims to bring a built from within glow and can be used as a finishing powder or a very subtle highlight. It comes in five different shades. This really reminds me of the Hourglass ambient lighting powder but in a loose formula and $16 cheaper for the same amount of product. I personally would never use this as just a highlight because it is so subtle but I do enjoy it as an all over setting/finishing powder. Someone with dry skin would love this for their all over powder because of that subtle light reflection. Mature skin or those ladies who love a very natural look may like this as a highlight but I would recommend using a setting spray before applying it in order to get some more glow to draw attention to those high points of the face.
accent light highlighter palette $49 – jaclyncosmetics.com
The accent light highlighter palette is not for the faint of heart. The palette comes in two shades and each palette has four different highlights. This reminds me of old school Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits. My one gripe with this palette is the wasted space. I love the mirror and the packaging is sturdy but there is so much space in between each highlighter and the entire right edge is empty. I just think the space of the palette could have been utilized better. Anyways! This is definitely not a natural highlight. It is beaming and metallic. I mean I love it but people who only wear a BB cream on the daily would probably find this way to intense. If you have bigger pores around the tops of your cheeks or in other areas you may highlight this will exaggerate them. I actually find the best way to prevent that is to pair this with the last product we are gonna talk about.
beaming light loose highlighter $24 – jaclyncosmetics.com
The beaming light loose highlighter reminds me so much of the old Kylie cosmetics ultra glow loose highlights that everyone obsessed over. Since those are no longer available this is a wonderful option. Again this isn’t for the faint of heart and you need to do the lightest tap ever with your brush. I don’t even put my brush near the product I always just lightly tap inside the cap because that is honestly how little you need. My absolute favorite was to use this is to apply the accent light palette all over the tops of my cheeks and then take a new highlighting brush and fluff this lightly all over the same area. I find if you really use a light hand and round swirling motions, you diffuse some of the intensity of the accent palette and cause your highlight to look much more diffused and blown out without loosing any of the beam.
All in all I would say if any of these products were catching your eye then I would snatch them up because you certainly won’t be disappointed. At the same time if you already have an extensive highlight collection, this is probably similar to what you already own. I can never imagine having enough highlight but you know, to each their own!
